Rollout of Online Services
New Online Services
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has made improvements to border.gov.au. There is a fresh look, improved search functionality and a user friendly structure to help you find what you need, when you need it.
On the site you can:
- use the ‘Find a Visa’ tool to search for a visa that might be right for you
- see customized information by indicating which country you are in
- find detailed information on all Australian visas such as lodgement options, pricing, conditions, entitlements and eligibility, all on a single page.
See: http://www.border.gov.au.
ImmiAccount
From 9 December 2013 you can create a single point of entry into online visa services with your own online account. ImmiAccount is a self-service web portal that enables you to create, submit, pay for and manage all online applications in one online system.
ImmiAccount will allow you to perform a range of tasks online, such as:
- commencing, completing and paying for an application
- attaching documents to support your application
- making changes to personal details
- tracking the status of your application
- accessing relevant forms and correspondence.
ImmiAccount accepts all online applications except for Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) and Citizenship applications.
Please note that you will need access to a credit card to pay for an online application. A third party may complete an online application on your behalf with your consent.
For more information about online visas and which nationalities are eligible to make online applications, see: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Life/Cert/CERS/Eligibility-CERS
Biometrics
From December 2013 visa applicants who apply online and are required to provide biometric data, will be sent a biometric request letter through their ImmiAccount. The letter will guide the applicant on how to submit biometrics.
Online Lodgement for Partners
From 6 December 2013, eLodgement will be available to Partner visa applicants of all nationalities. Partner visas enable people from overseas to enter Australia as the fiancé, spouse, or de facto partner of an Australian citizen or resident.
Online Lodgement for Visitor Visas (subclass 600)
From 1 August 2014, the Australian Government is providing online access to certain nationals to apply for a Visitor visa (visa subclass 600).
The online visa lodgement system is available to applicants at their convenience, seven days a week, without the need to apply in person or send in application forms by mail. Applications can be made at www.border.gov.au.
