
Andrew Barnes is a senior career officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Prior to his appointment as Acting High Commissioner to Kenya, he was Ambassador to Lebanon for four years from 2022.
He has previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Ghana from 2016 to 2020, Deputy Ambassador in Hanoi and Stockholm, and in Ottawa as an Exchange Officer in the Canadian Foreign Ministry.
He joined DFAT in 1992 in the Trade Analysis Branch, before spending two years in Sudan and South Sudan working in aid and conflict relief for the World Food Program and an NGO.
